The National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages states:

A high-quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world.  Throughout KS2, children in Belvedere Junior School have been benefitting from Spanish lessons. We have been lucky enough to have subscribed to the Language Angels website, a provider of SPanish lessons and resources related to KS2 Spanish and in line with the National Curriculum.  Children are also able to take part in interactive Spanish games in their classes, led by their class teacher and a wide variety of differentiated activities.

At Belvedere Junior School, Spanish is learnt in years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Our essential learning objectives for Languages at Belvedere Junior School are to enable children:

  • Understand the culture of Spain
  • To be able to speak confidently
  • To be able to read and understand the main points in simple texts.
  • To be able to write short texts on simple topics.
